Tips
- Act quickly. This is the crucial first step. The faster you get to it, the more chance you’ll have of successfully getting rid of cat or dog smell.
- Rinse and blot. Rinse out the affected area with cold, clean water first. Then blot the area dry (rather than rub) with paper towels – rubbing could push the odour deeper into the material.
- Pre-treat. If you throw your smelly clothing in the machine straight away, you run the risk of the odour setting in – and even spreading to everything else in your load. Avoid this by pre-treating with our Oxi Action formula (see steps 1 and 2 in instructions above) to remove the dog or cat urine smell as much as possible.
- Be cool. When you put the clothing in your washing machine (on its own) you’ll want to use a cold/lukewarm setting, like 30°C, as hot water could set in the smell.
- Air dry. Do this rather than tumble dry, as heat could permanently set in the odour.
