It’s no surprise how much Brits love curry. Often considered our true ‘national dish’, we even celebrate National Curry Week in October each year!
Curries are renowned for being packed full of flavour, often with ingredients such as chilli powder, turmeric, tomato and oil – however, sadly, it’s these vibrant spices that can leave a lasting stain on your favourite clothes. But, don’t despair! With Vanish, curry stains can be a long-forgotten issue, as the powerful multi-benefit formula can tackle tough stains, brighten colours and remove odours – even in a cold wash (30°C)!
For the best results, we recommend a three-step process to remove your curry-stained items: pre-treat or soak and wash as usual. For coloured clothes use Vanish Oxi Action Multi Power Powder and to for your whites, use Vanish Oxi Action Crystal White Powder. With both formulas, you’ll get unparalleled deep hygiene action*, which gives your washing a deep clean in-wash.

  2. Apply the mix on the stain.

  3. Rub stain as needed.

  4. Wash as usual with your normal detergent and add another scoop of Vanish

  5. Clean and dry the scoop before placing back into the tub. After pre-treat, wash as usual.

  6. Is your stain still visible? Give your garment a soak in a scoop of Vanish powder in 4L of warm or cold water (max 40°C). Leave it to soak for 1 hour (max) for coloured clothes or 6 hours (max) for whites. Then, wash with your usual detergent and an extra scoop of Vanish.

  7. Important: Always follow the usage instructions on the Vanish packaging. Do not use on wool, silk or leather.

How to remove curry stains from cotton

People are often wary of stain removal on cotton as it can be a delicate fabric, but rest assured you can treat it with Vanish just as you would another item of clothing. Just follow the instructions above.

Tips

Scrape away – If it’s a fresh stain, scrape as much curry residue as possible off your garment before you start to treat it.
Check before you dry – Always check the stain has vanished before you put it in the dryer. This avoids setting the stain, which decreases your chances of fully removing that brightly coloured stain!
